Our History

The Human Resource department had taken the initiative to involve retirees in activities related to the Calgary United Way campaign. This led to informal discussions about the value of organizing more activities for retirees, and Human Resources people asked several retirees to form a committee to consider how this might be done. The end result was the Petro-Canada Alumni Association of Calgary.

The founding committee of Fred Grant, Don Towson, Fred Hyrich, Benny Uchaz, Anne Fitzpatrick, Marg Fochuk and Shirley Keighan organized the first luncheon and led the formation of an assocation that has just kept growing.

Our Past Presidents

Marg Fochuk become the first president of the new organization and led the executive for 6 years. Then Anne Fitpatrick took over as president followed by Pauline Gordon, Herb Mathews, Dave Finnimore, John Engblom, Maureen Proctor, Judi Sommerville and Judith Allen.

The current executive steers an association that has grown to over 200 members but the main goal of the Alumni remains the same, that is to offer Petro-Canada retirees an opportunity to keep in contact with those former colleagues with whom we spent so much of our working lives.
